AIGO is an Android application used
to record board games. It has multiple functionalities: Clock, Game-Recorder, Game-Viewer.
Download and Install.
The folder "Go" is
created in the root directory, where games will be stored as images
captured by AIGO-Camera and transmitted through the local wifi network.
For a simple clock it is enough one mobile (phone, tablet) set as AIGO-Timer and no wireless.
To get full benefit of the application you need two Android terminals:
one set as AIGO-Timer and the other as
AIGO-Camera.
Install the application on both terminals and place the
AIGO-Camera
mobile
in a suitable place from where it can capture the image of the board. Set the wireless on on both terminals.
AIGO-Timer
has the functionality of an usual game-clock, but in the background it does other operations too:
- transfers pictures captured by AIGO-Camera
- crops, transforms and save it in the folder of the game
- displays the image in the middle of the clock
- at the end of the game transfers the folder of the game to the other mobile
Main Menu

View Games
View Games shows the folder Go. Here select the directory of the game
and see the sequence of pictures taken at each move or the .properties
text file that stores the text information of the game.
AIGO-Camera
The IPs are needed to allow communication between terminals.
The AIGO-Camera IP is set automatically (it has to be inserted as IP on the AIGO-Timer).
Find the IP of the AIGO-Timer and insert it in the form.
Then, camera is on and you can fine-tune it on the support such that it sees the full board and leave it in fixed position.
AIGO-Timer
Fill the form with the game data.
- Camera IP: change the string with the IP of the camera
- Image Filename: This string is the beginning of the name of the folder that stores the game.
- Choose the Time System. There are two possibilities: MainTime +
byoyomi and MainTime and Canadian byoyomy. This covers also SD (sudden
death -- choose MT+ byoyomi and zero periods)
If AIGO-Camera is ON, tap
Calibrate and select the corners of the board in trigonometric order.
Pick, zoom, set, >, for all corners. If something is not write,
start again. The selected part of the board will be "squared" and shown
in the middle, between the clocks.
- Black will be always on the right side of the clock
- The number of the stones on the board is shown in the center-top
- The Clock-Buttons are the Black stone (circle) and the White stone (circle)
- A picture is taken by AIGO-Camera immediately after you tap the Clock-Button and transfered to the AIGO-Timer
- The picture is transformed and then shown on the screen of AIGO-Timer
- Colored warnings are shown if one player shortage of time: yellow if <20 sec/move, red if <10 sec/move
Load Game
You can continue an interrupted game. The menu will help you to select the folder of the game and change the Settings.
Also, always if something interferes, during the game, you can Pause at any time to make adjustments in the Settings or to reCalibrate.
Warning
Before you prepare to record a game, please check both terminals:
- Is there enough baterry?
- Is there enough storage space?
- Stop the annoying external activities: phone calls, alarms, etc.
- Set (from the Settings of the Android) the Display --> "Sleep for inactivity" variable to a long value or to "Never".
Even if weired interruptions interfere, most of the time the
application will continue to run in the background and you can continue
to record the game when you return to it. If something goes very wrong
try to reload the game from Main Menu --> Load Game and choose the
folder of the game.
